Callaway—Steven Weeks took and inch and it turned out to be a victory Saturday night at Franklin County Speedway. The Floyd driver passed leader Teddy Lawless, in turn three on the last lap, to win the 50-lap Late Model feature of the BMG Photography 300.

Lawless started on the pole and lead the first 49 laps, when he moved to the outside, to lap Eddie Gibson of Madison Heights, giving Weeks a place to try to go between the two cars. Weeks made his move sending Lawless spinning and the rookie driver to victory lane, for the first time. Lawless recovered to finish third.

Weeks made two pit stops under the caution to work on his cars handling. “We got the car much better after the second stop.” Weeks said.

Lawless wasn’t happy after being denied his first Late Model win. He (Weeks), didn’t have any choice but to wreck me and he did that.” The Stuart driver said.

Kyle Dudley 17, finished second. It was his best finish since moving up from Street Stock.

Nathan Wheat of Wirtz did not race, after not paying a $500.00 fine the track had levied on him, for two incidents with Eddie Young of Penhook, on April 25th. The speedway also had placed a $500.00 bounty on Wheat, after his third straight victory.

Terry Mitchell of Rocky Mount was a first time winner, taking the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Point leader Jonathan Smith of Rocky Mount was second. Calvin Brooks of Bassett finished third.

Six-race winner Patrick Janney won both 25-lap U-Car features. Dan Hudson of Penhook was second in the first race. Josh Reeves finished second in the nightcap.

Other Winners: Adam Hollinsworth-Pure Stock, Matt Overfelt-Any Car, Lori “Roller Debry” Wright-Powder Puff.
