Franklin County Speedway Story
Callaway—Nathan Wheat didn’t make any friends Saturday night at Franklin County Speedway, during the Make A Wish 300. Wheat won the 50-lap Late Model feature, after being blamed for starting two crashes.
Wheat spun last weeks runner-up Eddie Young of Penhook, on the first lap in turn three. The crash took out Kyle Dudley and Tony Housman of Rocky Mount. Wheat tangled again with Young on lap 11, sending Young into the back straightaway wall. Young’s car was heavily damaged.
Wheat was sent to the rear of the field, after making repairs and worked his way to the front, for his third straight win.
The speedway placed a $500.00 bounty on Wheat, after his three-week dominance.
“ I can’t believe we came through the field like that.” Wheat said. “I got into the #62 (Young), the first time, but I got knocked into him the second time.” Wheat added. Young reserved comment but, was very upset with Wheat, after the race.
Dan Martin of Boones Mill finished second. It was Martin’s best run in the division since moving up from the Street Stock division. Tim Hogan of Rocky Mount was third.
Jonathan Smith of Rocky Mount won the 25-lap Mini Stock race for the second straight week. Calvin Brooks of Martinsville was second.
Chad Burnopp of Rocky Mount and Patrick Janney shared 25-lap U-Car wins. Burnopp won the opening race and Janney won the nightcap. Janney was second in the first race and Eddie Scott of Rocky Mount was second in the second race.
Brian Arrington of Rocky Mount won the Super Mini Cup race.
Anthony Carmichall won the Any Car race.
Justin Swortzel of Christiansburg won the race for Spectators.
Racing returns to the speedway Saturday night at 7PM.

Re: Franklin County Speedway Story
Why put a 500.00 bounty on Wheat when the rules are written where no one from any other track can/will come run there. Plus I was told he might be going to MMS next week anyway.

I'd love to see him race against everyone at mms!!! Make for an interesting race, real interesting if he decides to knock people out of the way. The drivers at mms won't put up with that crap.

Re: Franklin County Speedway Story
Well its pretty smart...if other drivers hear about the $500 bounty then more cars will show. To get the win would be $900. That should bring 2 or 3 cars back.

Re: Franklin County Speedway Story
Good god dude how many people are you going to talk crap about? You talked bad about Wheat, you talked bad about Jonathan, you talked bad about josh, and now you are going to talk crap about jimmy to? I mean you shorely do talk a whole lot of crap about everybody. I mean do you seriously think that you are better than all of them? Im not saying that you are or your not but if you are so much better why dont you go to the racetrack and just prove your self!

Re: Franklin County Speedway Story
I mean yea I like jimmy and all but yea there was several times that he did wreck several cars but if you are in racing long enough its going to happen. I dont have anything against wheat either but he does get in over his head sometime and has caused alot of tore up racecars but not all drivers are perfect and he must be doing something right to keep winning all these races but im shore that his day is coming after he wrecked all the cars that he did saturday somebody will probley pay him back.

Re: Franklin County Speedway Story
well since you are throwing out info ever consider that travis is a much calmer driver and it shows not to mention he is dating wheats stepdaughter has been for years!! and if you wanna get real technical.....john hall is travis' great uncle..... all in all travis has a much cooler head than n. wheat!!! he dont go out there tearing up everyone elses stuff intentionally either!!! And to the comment on Jimmy Mullins..... this is my opinion...... i like Jimmy as a person but I dont always like his driving technique, with that being said Jimmy does tend to get hot under the collar but has discipline somewhere look at his accomplishments..... and if N. Wheat's car is legal y dont he go to mms and race against travis that way we can see who the better driver in a wheat car!!

Re: Franklin County Speedway Story
i recall a few years ago the proclaimed $10,000 bounty on john hall and kelly kingery was wearin him out and john hall pulled in and "said" he had "brake issues"...i highly doubt that whitey would have gave up $10,000...i doubt he even had that much $$$$
